apophenia — the journey concludes

just about a year ago, i had the idea of creating an ep called apophenia. i loved the word from the first moment i encountered it in william gibson’s pattern recognition: the human impulse to find meaning and patterns in the noise around us.

i decided the artwork would follow that same instinct. rather than returning to the familiar shapes of mandelbrot fractals, i looked to older fractal forms: structures that suggest repetition, recursion, and an order that is never entirely fixed.

the first release, koch, followed smoothly. then the project went quiet. it took a year of personal turmoil before i could return to it and complete the journey.

now, with apollonian, serpienski, and menger, the ep is complete. apophenia is a critical part of finding my voice as an artist: a record of what stayed with me through that year, and of the patterns that finally led me back to the work.
